Maria Pereira , patron of the Global Vaddo Charitable Trust (GVC) was born in East Africa.
She studied at Convent of Jesus and Mary in Bombay and at a very early age started a career teaching in the same institution. During these years she met and married Alexio Pereira, an accountant by profession at the Iranian Oil Company in Aberdeen.
Maria had a great love for children, and a genuine sense of compassion for the poor, underprivileged and those in need. Maria was passionate about helping the needy and in her late years, she lived a simple life, donating her entire pension to various charities around the world. Before her passing in 2010, Maria donated the land owned by Alexio and herself to the work of the GVC.
