GVC’s key objective

To work together with local communities in Goa to provide opportunities for underprivileged children and families to develop to their full potential. Central to achieving this key objective is the construction of a learning centre, which will enable us to:

  • provide free educational assistance for underprivileged children in key learning areas;
  • promote the importance of education by actively involving the broader community; and
  • provide pre vocational training and support to achieve employment outcomes.

GVC has opened its first learning centre in Tivim, Goa on 4 March 2009.  Around 30 people attended the opening, which was officiated by Mr. Halankar MLA (Local member for Tivim) and the Mrs. Ferraro, Sarpanch (Mayor for Tivim). The learning centre is being temporarily operated from GVC’s newly renovated GVC house until more suitable facilities are available.

We are currently providing basic education and one meal a day to 21 underprivileged children aged between 4 and 9 years.
